Prayer beads, religious, Lutheran rosary, Olive wood, gold tone, Jerusalem Olive wood and Cherry Quartz beads, detailed crucifix, hand-wired

$45.00

This Lutheran prayer bead or rosary is set in gold-toned metal and features Olive wood beads from Jerusalem, Cherry Quartz beads, and a gorgeously detailed crucifix.

This rosary is hand-wired using gold-toned eye pins and my trusty little looper tool.

The beads are connected by these loops.

The smaller beads are 8mm Olive wood.
These beads are made from pruning cuttings or fallen limbs.
It is said that some of these olive trees have been there since the time Christ was alive.

The larger beads are rectangular cherry quartz.
(Cherry quartz is dyed glass or reconstituted ground quartz).

The crucifix is well-made and very detailed. It's a budded style cross.

This rosary is 18 inches long from the center top to the bottom of the crucifix.

It's very lightweight.

Please note one of the Sunday beads is offset at the center. It is supposed to be that way.

All rosaries, prayer beads, and malas will come in a small organza bag for safe storage.

Cherry Quartz is a man-made tumbled glass stone. (aka Hydro Quartz). It is made from glass melted in a furnace then combined with a coloring agent, and natural Rose Quartz Powder, to produce the swirling inclusions or "needles" that give it its unique look.

In doing my research, I found that some Lutherans use the Catholic rosary with modified prayers, some use the Anglican rosary with modified prayers, and some use no rosary or prayer beads at all.

There are several different variations on the Lutheran rosary, but they all center around Lent.

This version was created in 2005 by a seminary member and his wife. This was at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania.

As mentioned before, the rosary is centered around the Lenten season.
There are six sets of six beads representing the days of the week excluding Sunday.
Then there are 7 larger beads representing the Sundays.
Then where they are joined, one of the Sunday beads, and four small ones, then a crucifix.

I do not claim to know everything about this rosary, but my research is ongoing.

I will be adding more information about the symbolism, history, and how to pray the Lutheran rosary.

If you would prefer a cross instead of a crucifix, please let me know and I will swap it out for you.
